Vintage Shibori Kimono, Rainbow
This product is currently sold out.
This one-of-a-kind vintage Kimono made its way from Japan via Brooklyn, and now to you.
It showcases Shibori dyeing techniques on 100% Silk.
Shibori is a traditional Japanese resist-dyeing technique that is made by binding, stitching, folding, twisting, dyeing, and then releasing the binding to reveal the pattern. Often dismissed as tie-dyeing, Shibori techniques are ancestral and handed down within Japanese artisan families.
Once the fabric is released, the design that emerges is a result of the bound, stitched, twisted three dimensional shape created before dyeing.
Every shape, pattern and texture created represents a tied knot made by an artisan's hands.
